EU PVSEC 2021 goes fully virtual

• Advancement of the 2020 digital experience
• EU PVSEC Industry Summit
• A wholesome programme

The 38th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition will open its virtual doors for the second time in a row from 6 to 10 September 2021. After hoping to hold the prestigious event in Lisbon as planned, the organisers have now decided to follow the successful concept of 2020 and run the event completely virtual again.

"We would have been delighted to welcome our loyal attendees in person, but their health and safety comes first" says Jonas Bergmiller, Managing Director Events at WIP. “We are sure that our international community, consisting of participants from over 60 countries, appreciates the benefit of creating a great and reliable online event with progressive features that they can join from the comfort of their home rather than planning an onsite event in a somewhat unpredictable travel environment.”

Advanced event features

In order to offer all international participants the opportunity to join, the EU PVSEC is further developing the successful and well-proven online concept from 2020. Presenters and chairpersons are guided through the platform and prepared for their performance. All sessions are presented in an all-live environment and live interaction between speakers and the audience is ensured. The poster area will be reconstructed and provide refined opportunities for speakers to interact with participants and present their research.
Another great modernisation is taking place in the networking area. An easier handling with more features will be offered, encouraging more interaction among participants and between attendees and speakers.

A new focus on the industry sector

As a novelty, the first ever EU PVSEC Industry Summit will take place this September. This new initiative emphasizes the importance of refocusing on the PV industry in Europe. It is intended to enrich the vast conference programme in the long term as a second content pillar and offer a platform where Industry meets Science. It is meant to sharpen the interface between the latest research findings presented at the conference and the industry enablers who take these research results into real-life production. The need for a sustainable energy transition has now reached companies of all sizes and they are following the trend of retrofitting in this area. Businesses want to jump the green wave and the EU PVSEC aims to provide the platform for European manufacturers to learn about the latest developments in the sector and to meet and exchange with leading experts that help them to do so.

An extensive programme

The content of the EU PVSEC Industry Summit is intended to be complementary to the conference programme and to fill any gaps, especially within topics covering commercial purposes. The official conference programme is prepared by the EU PVSEC Scientific Committee, consisting of over 240 PV experts, with the support of the European Commission Joint Research Centre. An astonishing number of papers were received, ensuring the quality, richness and diversity of the programme, same as in previous years. The PV community can therefore look forward to an excellent online event with an inspiring conference programme, complemented by a broad range of industry topics and other exciting parallel events that will once again be available for streaming on demand for at least one month after the event.
