CONEC Hybrid connectors

In conventional wiring of electric motors, servo drives, or linear units, the effort involved is often very high. Separate cables are used for power, data, and signal transmission for different tasks. This wiring concept is not only expensive but also maintenance-unfriendly. Additionally, it requires a lot of space. Increasing cost pressure and the miniaturization of end devices demand new approaches for more efficient cabling, as do ever-growing data volumes and high transmission speeds.

One connector instead of two or three, shorter assembly times, modularity, no cable clutter, and less weight on the end device (e.g., motor) — these are the compelling arguments for the CONEC hybrid connector series. With various sizes (B12, B17, B23, B40), CONEC offers the right hybrid connector for almost every power class, whether it’s a small DC drive or a powerful servo drive.

With the angled B23 hybrid flange, it is possible to equip servo drives with power ratings over 20 kW using a single-cable solution. By rotating the cable outlet in 18 steps, the flange can be adapted to the specific installation situation in the machine. All sizes share a separately shielded 4-pole data element for transmitting Industrial Ethernet according to ISO11801 Class D or, alternatively, signals with currents up to 4 A.

The four sizes of CONEC Hybrid Connectors all have the same centrepiece: a separately shielded, 4-pin data element for transmitting Industrial Ethernet.

In addition to the 4-pole data element with Ethernet/Ethercat protocol, it is also possible to equip the data element as a blind module – for use as a pure power connector or with a 2-pole insert for 2-wire BUS protocols.

The series is completed by a number of power contacts tailored to the respective application case.

In future, CONEC hybrid connectors will be certified in accordance with IEC standard 61076-2-118.

The connector is secured using a bayonet quick-lock mechanism, eliminating the need for time-consuming screw connections with a torque wrench. A secure connection and IP67 protection rating are achieved with just a quarter turn. Importantly, the bayonet can only be locked when the hybrid connectors are fully mated, significantly reducing the risk of failure due to improperly connected or insufficiently tightened connectors.

Various selectable codings ensure that connectors intended for different applications cannot be mistakenly interchanged. In addition to tamper-proof overmolded connector variants, all connectors are also available in field-attachable versions for applications where pre-assembled cables cannot be used.

The product range is completed by seven different flange variants for front or rear panel mounting.

The angled flanges are particularly suitable for use on motors. The data line of the flanges is equipped as standard with an overmolded RJ45 connector, enabling direct connection to servo controllers or other control units.
