Today’s distribution centers and warehouses have grown in size and scale with large stretches of floor space becoming more valuable than ever. To meet this demand, these buildings contain fewer columns, but much larger columns than standard structural columns.

As a leader in manufacturing impact-resistant and collision warning products, Sentry has developed the Column Sentry® FIT System, an innovative solution designed to adapt to virtually any column size or shape.

The Column Sentry FIT System represents a new generation of column protection—one built for flexibility, scalability, and durability. Its innovative four-piece modular design allows users to build protection that fits their exact facility requirements, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all solution.

At the core of the FIT System is an intelligent four-piece modular design. Four identical interlocking panels surround the column, sliding together to form a uniform protective barrier on all sides. Corner to corner uniform protection on all sides, with the safety zone remaining constant.

Each panel features Sentry’s patented interactive spine, which slides and locks seamlessly into place. This design allows the system to expand or contract, accommodating a wide range of column dimensions while maintaining structural integrity.

A built-in air chamber enhances protection. The chamber absorbs and deflects impact energy, helping reduce damage from forklift and equipment strikes and protecting both the column and the vehicle. All components are manufactured from a proprietary high-impact polyethylene and vinyl blend, engineered to withstand the rigors of high-traffic industrial environments.

The FIT System is available in three core configurations. FIT Small protects columns ranging from 4” x 4” (100 x 100mm) to 8” x 8” (200 x 200mm). FIT Medium covers columns from 8” x 8” (200 x 200mm) to 12” x 12” (300 x 300mm). For rectangular columns, the FIT Combo configuration uses a mix of Small and Medium panels to protect 4” (100mm) x 8” (200mm) up to 8” (200mm) x 12” (300mm) columns. Each configuration stands 42 inches tall, providing consistent, robust coverage across applications.

For facilities with oversized or irregularly shaped columns, the system can be expanded even further. FIT Extension Panels extend the reach of any side of the column. Built with the same interactive spine as the corner pieces, these energy absorbent molded pieces can be added to each other to cover large, larger, and even the largest column sizes.

To simplify the specification process, Sentry offers an online FIT Configurator Tool. By entering column dimensions, users can instantly generate the correct system build and bill of materials, making custom column protection faster and easier than ever.
