ArcelorMittal highlights sustainable steel solutions and customer-focused innovations at Wire & Tube 2026
The focus will be on low-CO2 steel production, advanced tubular solutions and a broad wire portfolio supporting sectors such as construction, automotive, energy and infrastructure.
“With our extensive footprint across Europe and diverse production routes, we ensure a reliable and flexible supply chain close to our customers. At the same time, our R&D capabilities enable continuous product development and close co-operation with partners. And, we are steadily expanding our low-CO2 steel portfolio across Europe, broadening the range of products available for our customers.” said Shahab Husain, Chief Marketing Officer, Bars and Rods at ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products.
Advancing decarbonisation with new Electric Arc Furnace in Gijón
A milestone in ArcelorMittal’s decarbonisation strategy is the construction of a new electric arc furnace at its Gijón site in Spain. The facility, an investment of €213 million, is expected to start production later this year.
The transition from blast furnace-based production to an electric arc furnace route using scrap and direct reduced iron will reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 35 percent in the initial phase. Once fully implemented, emissions savings could reach up to one million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent annually.
The new installation will enable the production of high-quality wire rod and rails for demanding applications such as tyre cord, cold heading and bright drawing, while maintaining high safety standards. It also supports the expansion of the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced product range, including future offerings for tyre cord steel, for example. Demand for low-CO2 steel continues to grow across industries. In construction and energy, stricter regulatory requirements increasingly define acceptable CO₂ thresholds for new projects. Steel products such as rebars, wire rod mesh and prestressed concrete steel play a key role in enabling compliant and sustainable infrastructure, including wind energy installations.
High-performance tubular solutions for demanding applications
ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Europe will present its latest portfolio of welded and precision steel tubes, tailored to evolving industrial requirements.
Among the highlights is TitanThermic®, a tubular solution designed for high-temperature environments requiring stability and durability. The company will also showcase an expanded range of colour-coated tubes for applications such as sprinkler systems and HVAC.
In addition, tubes produced with XCarb® recycled and renewably made steel offer up to 75 percent CO₂ emissions reduction. The portfolio is complemented by advanced solutions for the automotive sector, developed in close collaboration with customers and including precision welded tubes, cold-drawn welded tubes and customised components.
WireSolutions: broad portfolio for critical industries
WireSolutions, the wire drawing division of ArcelorMittal, will present its extensive range of wire products serving industries such as construction, automotive, energy and agriculture.
The portfolio includes industrial wires, trellising wires, fencing systems, wire ropes and steel fibres. Many products are available with Crapal® corrosion-resistant coatings, enhancing durability, reducing maintenance requirements and supporting longer product lifecycles.
Applications across key sectors include mooring wires, hoisting ropes and cold rolled wire for offshore oil and gas, as well as offshore wind. Cable armouring wire supports onshore wind infrastructure, while flat shaped wire and bright bars are used in automotive applications.
The continued expansion of XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel across the wire portfolio enables customers to meet both performance and sustainability targets.
