Instrument Systems GmbH at SID Display Week 2026: Accurate Measurement Technology for Modern Display Technologies

Higher resolutions, wider color gamuts, faster clock speed, and new applications in AR/VR/MR are placing increasing demands on display measurement technology. At SID Display Week 2026, taking place 5–7 May 2026 in Los Angeles, Instrument Systems will present innovative solutions for the precise characterization of modern displays at booth No. 845 in collaboration with Konica Minolta Sensing Americas.

The focus is on measurement technology solutions for near-eye displays (NED) and Micro(O)LED applications that enable high precision, efficiency, and scalability in development and production processes.

The systems presented include:

  • LumiTop X30 AR for fast and precise color measurement of AR/VR near-eye displays in production
The system was specifically developed for characterizing near-eye displays in AR/VR headsets. By combining an AR lens with spectrally corrected 2D measurement technology, it measures displays as the human eye perceives them – delivering traceable results and laboratory-grade accuracy at very high speed suitable for production.

  • CoboTop – Automation for AR/VR Testing
This cobot-based solution enables production-ready AR/VR/MR testing with high positional accuracy and reproducibility. Robot-assisted positioning provides a high degree of flexibility. Test sequences can be efficiently scaled—from prototyping to series production.

Another highlight is our poster session on 7 May 2026, starting at 5:30 p.m., on the topic of “Multiple Color Matching Function 2D Colorimetry”. We will present an imaging measurement method that enables 2D colorimetry using multiple color matching functions from a single image. The goal is to improve color accuracy, reduce observer metamerism, and increase the visual consistency of modern displays.

Über die Instrument Systems GmbH

Instrument Systems GmbH, founded in Munich in 1986, develops and produces high-end light measurement technology that is indispensable for manufacturers of consumer electronics, (AR/VR) displays, Micro(O)LED wafers, VCSEL/laser systems, automotive lighting and LED/SSL modules. All solutions benefit from the CAS series of high-precision spectroradiometers that are widely recognized and used worldwide. In combination with 2D imaging colorimeters, integrating spheres and goniometer systems, they enable high-precision and accurate measurements in the entire spectral range from UV to IR, traceable to PTB or NIST. Today, Instrument Systems is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of light measurement technology. At its Berlin facility, the “Optronik Line” of products is developed and marketed for the automotive industry and traffic technology. The subsidiary in Korea supplements the product portfolio with the “Kimsoptec Line” for the Korean light & display market. Instrument Systems has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Konica MinoIta Group since 2012.
