
TOPTICA wins 2025 Innovation Award for Plug-and-Play Femtosecond Laser System in Biophotonics
Developed to simplify multi-photon microscopy, this compact platform offers turnkey femtosecond beam delivery via optical fiber – enhancing safety and operational ease in modern bioimaging labs.
The FemtoFiber ultra FD provides robust, hands-free femtosecond laser delivery using hollow-core fiber technology combined with TOPTICA’s proprietary COOLAC auto-alignment system. Originally developed for the iChrome fluorescence microscopy platform, COOLAC now brings automated fiber coupling to the ultrafast regime – making multi-photon imaging faster, safer, and more accessible.

The award was presented by Europa Science Ltd and the Laser World of Photonics jury, recognizing the system’s impact on both clinical and research imaging environments. With support for popular wavelengths (780/920/1050 nm), the FemtoFiber ultra FD is compatible with common fluorophores and optimized for deep-tissue imaging and nonlinear excitation techniques.
