Preparations for the recommissioning of Source One Plastics‘ modern recycling plant
Following a fire in parts of the recycling hall on 27 January, clean-up work has begun on the Source One Plastics GmbH site. Employees of the recycling company are cleaning the first sections to make them usable again. The plant is supposed to go back into operation this year and reach its full production capacity. A technical defect caused the fire in a product bunker next to the modern sorting and recycling plant. The damage to the plant and the building’s infrastructure totalled tens of millions of euros. Nach einem Brand in Teilen der Recyclinghalle am 27. Januar haben die Aufräumarbeiten auf dem Gelände der Source One Plastics GmbH begonnen. Mitarbeiter des Recyclingunternehmens reinigen erste Abschnitte, um sie wieder nutzbar zu machen. Die Anlage soll noch in diesem Jahr wieder in den Betrieb gehen und ihre volle Produktionskapazität erreichen. Ein technischer Defekt hatte das Feuer in einem Produktbunker neben der modernen Sortier- und Recyclinganlage ausgelöst. Die entstandenen Schäden an Anlage und Infrastruktur des Gebäudes summieren sich zu einem zweistelligen Millionenbetrag. Intakt geblieben sind – vorbehaltlich der abschließenden gutachterlichen Stellungnahmen – die Lagerhalle sowie der gesamte Logistikbereich. Source One Plastics sorts rigid plastics into monofractions
Source One Plastics GmbH, a joint venture between 23 Oaks Investments and LyondellBasell, is expanding its service portfolio to include the optical sorting of rigid plastics for mechanical recycling. To this end, it brought two sorting machines from Meyer Deutschland GmbH into operation on 1 July 2025. The flake sorters are designed to sort 15,000 tons of processed post-consumer waste annually by color and polymer type. With this move, Source One Plastics is responding to the growing demand for plastic recyclates across Europe. Source One Plastics sortiert Hartplastik zu Monofraktionen
Die Source One Plastics GmbH, ein Joint Venture zwischen 23 Oaks Investments und LyondellBasell, erweitert ihr Leistungsportfolio um die optische Sortierung von Hartkunststoffen für das mechanische Recycling. Hierfür hat sie am 1. Juli 2025 zwei Sortiermaschinen der Meyer Deutschland GmbH in Betrieb genommen. Die Flakesorter sollen pro Jahr 15.000 Tonnen aufbereiteter Post-Consumer-Abfälle nach Farbe und Polymerart trennen. Damit reagiert Source One Plastics auf den europaweit wachsenden Bedarf an Kunststoffrezyklaten. Source One Plastics Starts Operations at Plastic Waste Sorting and Recycling Facility
Source One Plastics, a joint venture between 23 Oaks Investments and LyondellBasell, has successfully started up its plastic waste sorting and recycling facility in Eicklingen, Germany. The new unit processes difficult to recycle post-consumer plastic waste such as mixed plastic packaging and flexible polyolefins materials that would otherwise be sent mostly to incineration. The annual expected processing capacity of 70.000 metric tons equals the amount of plastic waste produced by approximately 1,5 million German citizens per year. The new plant will use an innovative dry processing method to reduce energy consumption by up to thirty percent compared to conventional plastic recycling technologies. Die Source One Plastics GmbH, ein Joint Venture zwischen 23 Oaks Investments und LyondellBasell, hat ihre Anlage zur Sortierung und zum Recycling von Kunststoffabfällen in Eicklingen erfolgreich in Betrieb genommen. Die neuartige Anlage bereitet schwer zu recycelnde Kunststoffabfälle wie gemischte Kunststoffverpackungen und flexible Polyolefine wieder auf, die ansonsten meist der Verbrennung zugeführt wurden. Die erwartete jährliche Verarbeitungskapazität von 70.000 Tonnen entspricht der Menge an Kunststoffabfällen, die von mehr als 1,5 Millionen deutschen Bürgern pro Jahr produziert wird.
