Carling Technologies® Announces Launch of Innovative New Solid State Load Controller

Carling Technologies®, a world-class manufacturer of switching, control and circuit protection products, recently announced the launch of the company’s CLTM-12-S-Series solid state load controller. The CLTM-12-S works with Carling’s off-the-shelf electronic switching products to provide manufacturers of both on-highway and off-highway vehicles with a state-of-the art solution for reducing equipment downtime while increasing safety.

The CLTM-12-S is compliant with SAE J1939 standards and features 12 high-side outputs, 4 digital inputs, 3 discrete inputs, 2 address lines, and a CAN baud rate select line. The result is fast, low-loss, solid state on/off switching and reduced wire harnessing complexity.

The overall compact size of the CLTM-12-S adds to the control module’s virtues. Weighing in at a mere 0,56 kg and measuring only 125 mm long by 108 mm wide and 34 mm high, the lightweight module is perfect for close quarters and for reducing vehicle load.

Complimenting the slim profile of the CLTM-12-S are a host of features designed to reduce power consumption, while improving vehicle efficiency. Through lower power dissipation and higher power to weight densities, the CLTM-12-S boosts thermal efficiency when compared to electromechanical relays, while maintaining a 75-amp maximum current capability.

Additional short circuit protection and real-time fault monitoring for all outputs, including J1939 DM1 messaging, ensures safety and ease of use. Other enhanced safety features include reversed polarity protection and adherence to ISO 11451-1, ISO 11452-2, ISO 13766, ISO 7637-2, ISO 13766 and ISO 10605 standards for protecting sensitive equipment against electrical disturbances.

The durable performance of the CLTM-12-S is matched by the control module’s rugged design. Sealed to IP69K standards, the CLTM-12-S offers dependable protection against dust and liquids. The module is also temperature impervious from -40 degrees C to +85 degrees.

The overall rugged design and modern features of the CLTM-12-S create a solid state load controller that offers superior load control performance and improved efficiency for manufacturers of both on-highway and off-highway vehicles.
