Official: EPL Ltd. expands its environmentally friendly tube range with the PLATINA PRO Range

.
– Certification: EPL products receive the coveted RecyClass certification in Europe
– Environmentally friendly: EPL-PLATINA-PRO laminate tubes with a material thickness of 220 μ and 250 μ are fully recyclable
– EPL sets another example for sustainability and quality

EPL Ltd. Europe, part of the global manufacturer of laminated plastic tubes headquartered in Mumbai, has already received an approval of recyclability for the Platina tubes 250 μ and 300 μ from RecyClass in 2020. EPL takes it to the next level and has extended its range of recyclable laminate tubes by adding the PLATINA PRO Range. Now, RecyClass officially and independently confirms that EPL’s PLATINA 220 PRO and PLATINA 250 PRO tubes are equally 100 percent recyclable in the recycle stream (HDPE). RecyClass is an initiative that promotes and evaluates the recyclability of plastic packaging in Europe.

PLATINA PRO technology was previously awarded recyclability recognition by the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) in the US. Based on the APR results, RecyClass has also recognized the technologies as fully compatible with HDPE recycling. The EPL technology has no negative impact on the recycling stream of HDPE rigid if the specified conditions are met. This requires the tube body and shoulder to be made of clear or white PE with a predominant HDPE content, while the EVOH concentration must not exceed 5% of the total weight of the packaging. In addition, the closure must be made of PE as well or separated from the tube prior to disposal.

PLATINA-PRO Tubes: Recyclable and sustainable
PLATINA-PRO tubes are another strong statement of EPL in the packaging industry. The tubes can be used as innovative and sustainable packaging for the oral hygiene, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food sectors and offer our customers the possibility to convert their product range of different applications to recyclable tubes in various diameters. This means that conventional laminate tubes can be replaced by much more environmentally friendly products with comparable stability and durability as well as excellent haptic and bounce back

Thomas Holling, New Product Development Manager Europe, adds: "The confirmation of RecyClass in Europe is a strong statement in terms of ’sustainability‘. The recyclability of EPL tubes makes plastic no longer being waste but to play an important role in the recovery of raw materials in a circular economy. This benefit is not only a win-win situation for us and our customers, it as a global achievement for a sensible use of resources on our planet."

EPL is constantly developing the HDPE tube material further, focusing, for example, on different material thicknesses and the optimization of barrier properties. These tasks are very complex and demanding, because the tubes must remain intact throughout their use and assume their desired shape after each use.
