The SMS text message fault annunciator – Now also via LTE 4G!

SMS fault annunciators are still the most cost-effective option to reliably monitor plants from a distance and to receive information about the status of aggregates, object protection messages or filling levels and their limit violations in a cost-effective and timely manner.

For several years, EES has placed the MFW-GSM fault annunciating family in 2 variants on the market in order to fulfill both simple as well as more complex tasks, which can also take over control tasks.

On the one hand, the variants have been simplified in the course of the modernization of the platform. This means that the annunciator can now always be expanded with corresponding digital or analog expansion modules, which can also be connected to the system at a later date.

On the other hand, there is a new variant, which is one of the few that can also send SMS text messages via the LTE 4G network. This means that SMS messages can still be sent when GSM networks are shut down completely, as it has already happened in Switzerland.

The transmission of text messages can be set in the fault annunciator as a subject to acknowledgement, so that an acknowledgement must also be made by SMS within a parameterizable time. Otherwise, the signal is being repeated or escalated via another signaling path / recipient. A linking logic offers a wide range of adaptation options here.

In addition to the conventional dispatch of individual alarms, the MFW fault annunciator can also be switched to a telecontrol mode in which the process image is packaged as a bit pattern within the SMS. This can then be evaluated by an MFW master station and stored in IEC 60870-5-101 or -104 telegrams. In this way, cost-effective SMS telecontrol stations can be realized.

SMS text messages will continue to be an effective way to monitor plants economically in the future.

The MFW technology of EES is exactly the right partner for this.
