Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for ZinCo Green Roof Systems
ZinCo was a pioneer in the green roof market with its first core EPD back in 2020. With the latest 2025 verification, almost all products within the ZinCo green roof systems are now included, enabling customers to access comprehensive EPDs including project-specific versions in a well-structured format.
EPDs are based on scientifically verified data and present all environmental impacts of construction products throughout their entire life cycle independently and transparently, while also describing their technical and functional properties. They include, for example, information on energy and resource use, waste generation as well as the extent to which a product contributes to the greenhouse effect, acidification, eutrophication, ozone depletion and smog formation.
This makes EPDs relevant for the overall sustainability assessment of buildings and for building certification systems such as DGNB, BREEAM or LEED. They have become indispensable, especially for publicly tendered construction projects. In addition, they can serve as evidence of quality when granting loans and subsidies.
ZinCo – Currently the Only Supplier of EPDs Worldwide
Acting in an ecologically holistic manner and providing transparent environmental information have always been a priority for ZinCo. This is why ZinCo, as a green roof manufacturer, has already offered EPDs in the past as verified declarations by the manufacturer based on the core EPD. With the 2025 verification by EPD Norway, ZinCo is expanding the range of internationally recognised EPDs to cover almost its entire product range (protective layers, drainage layers, filter fleeces, substrates, accessories). As a result, ZinCo is currently the only green roof manufacturer worldwide able to provide comprehensive life cycle assessment data for specific projects. The international demand is correspondingly high.
Customers also benefit from the clear and comprehensible presentation made possible by the fully verified, professional tool. The excerpt provides a concise overview of all relevant parameters, such as the carbon footprint, and is supplemented by graphics and diagrams.
