180 degrees – zero compromise: manroland Goss completes a complex LITHOMAN press relocation for Sattler Media

Sattler Media GmbH has once again placed its trust in the proven expertise of manroland Goss, the leading provider of web offset printing solutions. Together, the companies successfully executed the complex relocation of a 72-page LITHOMAN press, including prepress and postpress systems, to Barleben. This project marks another milestone in their long-standing partnership and follows previous successful relocations from Lübeck to Barleben.

  • Complex configuration modification of the press: 180-degree rotation of the folding unit enables precise positioning in the production hall.
  • Seamless integration: State-of-the-art control systems from manroland Goss ensure smooth operation.
  • Increased output at the new site: The relocated LITHOMAN enhances capacity and productivity.

Tailored solutions for complex requirements

One of the major challenges was adapting the existing LITHOMAN configuration to the spatial conditions of the Barleben facility. To make optimal use of the available space, the folder and reelstand were rotated 180 degrees.

“No two relocations are the same – and that’s exactly where our strength lies,” says Frank Kreisel, Vice President Sales at manroland Goss. “As a systems provider, we have access to detailed machine specifications and engineering drawings. This know-how enables us to offer customized construction and planning services, giving us a decisive advantage in complex projects.”

Boosting efficiency through innovative technology

Particularly noteworthy is the implementation of manroland Goss inline control systems for color register, cut-off register, and ink density – used for the first time at the Barleben site. As part of the relocation, the LITHOMAN press was fully integrated into the site’s existing production planning system. Daily production operations with the relocated press have since been running seamlessly, delivering the expected performance gains.

Marc Holzapfel, Operation Manager at Sattler Media GmbH, is highly satisfied: “This project has significantly increased our productivity and expanded our capacity. Thanks to the professional collaboration with the manroland Goss team, we were able to adapt the press precisely to our needs. We are very pleased to have once again relied on their expertise.”

Strong partnerships are the key to success

Frank Kreisel adds: “The successful completion of this complex project underscores the strong partnership and mutual trust between our companies. We work together as equals, and we are proud to support Sattler Media GmbH in its ongoing development.”
