eIDAS-Countdown is on

The eIDAS-Countdown at https://days2.go.eID.AS is on! The EU Member States have only 500 days left to provide EUDI-Wallets according to Article 5a and the related Authentic Source Interfaces according to Article 45e of the amended eIDAS-Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014.

EU Member States shall provide certified EUDI-Wallets until 24 December 2026

The amended regulation (EU) No 910/2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market, which is commonly known as “eIDAS-Regulation”, in particular requires that all EU Member States shall provide certified and Open Source licensed “European Digital Identity Wallets” (EUDIW) according to its Article 5a to their citizens by Christmas 2026.

EU Member States shall also offer Authentic Source Interfaces until 24 December 2026

Furthermore, Article 45e of the same regulation requires that the EU Member States also provide so called ”Authentic Source Interfaces” (AuthSrc-API) until the very same day. These interfaces, which are currently standardized in ETSI TS 119 478, will allow Qualified Trust Service Providers, which issue electronic attestations of attributes, to verify at least the attributes listed in Annex VI of the eIDAS-Regulation by electronic means at the request of the user.
