Automation is now available for all shelving systems
In shelving warehouses the principle still applies: the employee must go to the goods. However, every meter travelled means lost time, physical strain and low productivity. NEOintralogistics is now turning this principle upside down by launching an innovative goods-to-person system that redefines speed, flexibility, and ergonomics.
Faster picking
The system not only reverses conventional working methods, but also creates several advantages at once:
• Picking is as fast as with existing classic automation solutions.
• Storage space in shelving is significantly more efficient, offering around twice the storage density.
• Employees now work at ergonomic stations instead of in long aisles.
Automation during ongoing business operations
NEOintralogistics automates classic shelving racks without the need for structural changes. Autonomous robots navigate through the warehouse aisles, retrieve the required containers and bring them directly to the employee station. This solution can be implemented in stages for individual sections of the existing shelving system. This means that current warehouse structures can be converted to a goods-to-person system without production being interrupted.
This solution is particularly interesting because it is flexible, quick to implement, and cost-effective. Expanding storage volume by a factor of two to three usually requires an expansion or relocation. ‘With NEO, however, this can be done much faster, and above all, it can be implemented in existing shelving structures while operations continue,‘ says Dr Michael Drodofsky, CEO and founder of NEOintralogistics.
Easily expand scalability and capacity limits
Currently, the maximum performance of automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) is limited by the number of available robots and goods-to-person stations. NEOintralogistics is redefining the state of the art by utilising the open principle of shelving systems. ‘We can either bring every storage location, and thus every stored item, to the goods-to-person station using an autonomous mobile robot (AMR), or pick it manually from the shelf in the traditional way. This means we can provide our customers with virtually any service they require during highly lucrative peak periods, such as the Christmas season,’ says Markus Boltz, NEOintralogistics‘ managing director and founder.
The AMRs can be seamlessly integrated into any existing warehouse structure, enabling first-class retrofitting. Thanks to intelligent sensor technology and precise navigation, humans and machines can collaborate smoothly.
NEO has been proven in practice by leading retailers and logistics service providers
The system has already been implemented by the fulfilment service provider Versandmanufaktur, a subsidiary of the GLS Group. Conrad Electronics SE, an international specialist shipper of electronic components, is also transforming its existing shelving systems segment by segment. After a one-month ramp-up phase, more than 1.5 million items had been stored, guaranteeing constant two-shift operation. Additional storage areas are currently being gradually converted to the NEO system.
NEOintralogistics will present its innovation at LogiMAT 2026 in Stuttgart at booth F01 in hall 1. There, it will demonstrate how existing shelving systems can be quickly transformed into a modern, collaborative, and future-proof system—without abandoning their familiar structure.
The Düsseldorf-based technology company NEOintralogistics has set itself the goal of drastically simplifying warehouse automation. Its modular system enables robot-assisted picking of items directly from standard warehouse shelves. Thanks to a performance-based pay-per-pick model (PPP), no upfront investment is required. Integration of the NEO system takes only six to eight weeks and reduces manual labour by up to 70 per cent.
With an expanding customer base, NEOintralogistics is making scalable automation accessible to warehouses of all sizes. The company has locations in Düsseldorf, Berlin and Hamburg, and serves customers throughout the DACH region. Further expansion in Europe is planned for this year.
