Trinkwasser kann durch verschiedene gesundheitsschädliche Stoffe bedroht sein. Vanadium ist ein giftiges Übergangsmetall und kommt natürlicherweise im Gestein vor. Wenn Bedingungen im Boden das Vanadium mobil machen, gelangt es ins Grundwasser. Bisher gibt es noch keinen Grenzwert für Vanadium in der Trinkwasserverordnung. Dennoch müssen die Wasserversorger den vom Umweltbundesamt festgelegten Leitwert von 4 μg/l sowie den Maßnahmenhöchstwert von 20 μg/l Vanadium im Trinkwasser einhalten. GEH® ist ein Adsorptionmittel und besteht aus granuliertem Eisenhydroxid. Es wird seit vielen Jahren erfolgreich für die Entfernung von Arsen bei der Aufbereitung von Trinkwasser eingesetzt.
