Im Zusammenhang mit der Entwicklung von mRNA-basierten Impfstoffen gegen Corona haben sich Lipid-Nanopartikel (LNPs) als eine geeignete Darreichungsform erwiesen. LNPs verkapseln und schützen den empfindlichen Wirkstoff und ermöglichen seinen Transport zu den Zielzellen im menschlichen Körper. Dies wird der erste groß angelegte Einsatz von mRNA und Lipid-Nanopartikeln in der Geschichte des Impfens sein. KNAUER, der in Berlin ansässige Hersteller von Hightech-Labormessgeräten, der vor allem für seine Flüssigkeitschromatografie-Systeme bekannt ist, liefert auch Produktionsanlagen für pharmazeutische Lipid-Nanopartikel.
