TÜV SÜD: Reliable partner for ensuring compliance with national and international requirements for photovoltaic (PV) systems

Climate change and the impact of the conflict in Ukraine have made the transition to green energy more urgent than ever. TÜV SÜD offers a broad portfolio of services that support the expansion of energy from renewable sources and the growth of electricity-based energy. At Intersolar Europe 2023, held in Munich from 14 to 16 June, visitors can inform themselves about the testing, inspection and certification company’s services (Hall A5, Stand 181)

At Intersolar Europe 2023, TÜV SÜD will present comprehensive services related to the production, storage and distribution of energy from renewable sources. They include testing of electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), solutions for cyber security and the connection of PV systems to power grids as well as communication between electric vehicles and charging stations. “TÜV SÜD can cover the entire range of services required, from production of renewable energy to its transport and storage”, says Christian Theeck, Business Development Manager at TÜV SÜD Product Service. “We support developers and manufacturers in ensuring their PV products are in compliance with national and international regulatory requirements, and we also verify the quality of communication between electric vehicles and EV charging points.”

TÜV SÜD is also engaged in the European Union’s Ecodesign Regulation for PV modules, inverters and energy-related products (ErPs), which is currently undergoing debate. Here, the potential requirements need to ensure that products are energy-efficient and offer a high level of resource efficiency. At the trade fair stand, interested visitors will have the opportunity to meet TÜV SÜD experts and discuss their ideas and opinions on topics such as the product carbon footprint of PV modules or information requirements including critical resources.

Technical due diligence for secure investments

A technical due diligence (TDD) study by TÜV SÜD provides investors in photovoltaic parks with a reliable basis for decision making. Services for both buyers and sellers include technical feasibility studies, reviews of the contractual basis and financing models and extensive analyses of the technical basis and requirements. “This covers, for example, statements about the individual components of a PV park alongside the quality of execution, assessment of its performance and power output forecasts, as well as safety-related acceptance tests and verification of compliance with national and international standards”, explains Michael Lange, Senior Due Diligence Manager at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service. In a red-flag report, experts point out potential pitfalls and deal breakers. The client further obtains a final report which includes a comprehensive evaluation of the PV farm from a technical perspective.

The experts present at TÜV SÜD’s trade fair stand will also be happy to inform visitors about topics such as solar panel roof checks, testing and certification of hydrogen technologies (H2-readiness of materials, components and systems), green hydrogen certification and assessment of EV charging infrastructure.
