Raw materials from Brazil

Brazil has a long history of mining and is one of the most resource-rich countries in the world.

In March 2025, mining production in Brazil increased by 5.4% compared to the same month in the previous year. The first known gold rush occurred in Brazil from around 1693. It turned out that Brazil had very large gold deposits, many of them in the Amazon region. The founding of colonies flourished. And so, for most of the 18th century, around ten to 15 tons of gold per year found its way to Europe. The great gold rushes in North America did not begin until 1799 in North Carolina. Gold production later declined in Brazil, but the 2008 financial crisis triggered a new gold rush that is still ongoing today. And the mining of raw materials is currently an important building block for the Brazilian economy and offers opportunities for growth and investment.

Another important raw material that is available in Brazil, often in excellent quality, is copper. In view of the demand for copper that the transformation to a greener society is consuming, a copper deficit seems inevitable. The largest copper producers today include Codelco, Freeport McMoRan and BHP. In terms of countries, Chile, Peru, China and the Congo are among the heavyweights. Many new technologies will only realize their full potential in a few years or decades and thus contribute to copper consumption. Communication and information technology, the renewable energy sector, electrical engineering and many industrial applications simply cannot do without the metal.

Copper, gold, zinc and silver come together in Brazil in Meridian Mining’shttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/meridian-mining-uk-societas/ – Cabaçal project, for example. The drilling results from this open-pit mining project are excellent and could make the company a lucrative investment.

Copper and gold are also held by GoldMininghttps://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/goldmining-inc/ – in North and South America, including Brazil. The company also holds shares in Gold Royalty, U.S. GoldMining and NevGold.
