It’s not just seasonality that speaks in favor of silver
From January to mid-April and from late July to early December, the silver price tends to rise, according to seasonal experience.
Silver is currently trading at just under US$38 per troy ounce. Chart technicians see solid technical resistance for silver at its July high of US$39.91 per ounce. Support levels are below at US$38.00, but this has just been reached. Estimates for total demand in the current year are 1.15 billion ounces. Industrial demand for silver is likely to stagnate in 2025 as growth in the photovoltaic sector slows. Weaker demand from the jewelry and silverware sectors is likely to be offset by stronger demand for bars and coins. On the supply side, an increase of around 1.5 percent is expected, due to slightly higher mine production. Nevertheless, this year will also end with a silver deficit. A shortfall of 117.6 million ounces of silver is expected.
As the Silver Institute explains in its World Silver Survey 2025, after a very good year in 2024, US tariffs could have a negative impact on silver demand this year. This would affect jewelry, for example, but on the other hand, there are growing investments in silver by investors. In 2024, the price of silver rose by 21 percent. The fundamentals for silver should remain strong this year. Many industrial demand segments are growing. If the Fed then proceeds with the expected interest rate cuts, this will help not only the gold price but also the silver price. Turbulent geopolitical conditions and political uncertainties will keep investor demand for silver high.
