German Premiere of the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup Around Lübbecke on September 25 and 26

The ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup is setting standards in international rallying and the ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg marks the exciting halfway point of the season as the fourth of a total of seven rounds. For the first time in a round of the German Rally Championship, the up to 207 kW (281 hp) Opel Mokka GSE Rally will tackle on all special stages. Thanks to ‘Remote Charging’, the electric cars can recharge between two stages outside the service park. The charging cubes required for this are brought to where they are needed on battery-electric semitrailers. This means that not only the rally vehicles, but also the towing vehicles operate locally emissions-free and ensure even more sustainability in the Cup.

A positive side effect of the innovative charging solution: The electric Mokka GSE Rally will appear in the overall standings of the ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg and not only in their own classification as in the past.

“With our innovative remote charging infrastructure and the new Opel Mokka GSE Rally, we are setting new standards in electric rallying. 207 kW, 345 Newton metres, this is performance at Rally4 level – and a message to the conventionally powered competition. It shows the massive progress we have made over the past five years,” said Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott.

In terms of sport, the world’s first electric rally one-make cup is more international and competitive than ever: 13 teams from nine nations will compete in the asphalt chase around Lübbecke. At the top, every tenth of a second is fought for. So far this season, it has been mainly the Frenchman Tom Dufour, the Welshman Ioan Lloyd and the German Timo Schulz who have gone toe to toe. In the overall standings, Dufour is only three points ahead of Lloyd. Schulz already has two victories this season, but due to his retirement at the Rally Vosges Grand-Est in France, he is only in third place, 19 points behind. However, with a total of 35 points achievable per rally and four races to go, everything is still to play for.

Mokka GSE Rally and Mokka GSE: Motorsport for fans, community and customers

At the ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg, Schulz and his co-driver Maresa Lade will also be sitting in a specially designed Mokka GSE Rally for the first time. Opel Germany and Opel Motorsport asked the social media community how they could imagine the styling of the rally electric car. The result is a modern, colourful design that also underlines the German origin of the brand with the Blitz.

In addition, the Mokka GSE Rally builds the perfect bridge from the rally track to the road as a close relative of the equally powerful Mokka GSE production model. Because GSE stands for ‘Grand Sport Electric’ at Opel in rallying as well as in the highly dynamic production models – and thus for goosebumps, speed and electrifying emotions. Essential components and insights from the rally car have been incorporated into its production counterpart and ensure plenty of driving pleasure – even away from the special stages.

The programme of the ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg this coming weekend includes 14 special stages and covers 141.8 kilometres. The start will be on Friday (25 September) from 17:04 CEST. Four stages must be completed before the vehicles roll into the parc fermé from around 21:18 CEST. The chase continues the following day from 8:04 CEST. After a long rally day, the finish in Lübbecke will be reached shortly after 20:00 CEST. Rally fans can follow the electrifying hustle and bustle via live timing under www.adac.de/motorsport.
