Das Motto „Herzinfarkt mit 35? Ohne mich!“ fasst das Ziel der VRONI-Studie aus Bayern und Niedersachsen zusammen. Durch ein Routine-Screening bei der Vorsorgeuntersuchung von Kindern und Jugendlichen können die gravierenden Folgen der genetisch-bedingten Familiären Hypercholesterinämie (FH) verhindert werden. Diese häufige vererbte Fettstoffwechselstörung kann unbehandelt schon im jungen Alter zu Herzinfarkt und Schlaganfall bis zum plötzlichen Herztod führen. Mit dem Beschluss des „Gesundes-Herz-Gesetz“ durch das Bundeskabinett wird die Vision der VRONI-Studie nun bundesweite Wirklichkeit für die Regelversorgung.
