. ICM: Please present the activities of Van der Ven Autorecycling B.V. in a few words. Martijn Traas: Van der Ven Autorecycling is a car dismantling company based in the Netherlands, processing 30,000 to 35,000 cars annually. We have two workshops with a total of 15 ramps to dismantle cars. There is also a scrap area where cars are further dismantled with four Powerhands. Our warehouse has space for 100,000 original used car parts. We also have a fleet of 35 of trucks responsible for collecting cars in the Netherlands. We also offer the Venyard concept, where customers can dismantle the necessary car parts themselves at a fixed, low price.…

ICM: Can you tell us more about the PLAST2bCLEANED project? PLAST2bCLEANED: It is an EU-funded research project in which a WEEE plastics recycling process has been successfully developed to TRL5, which means the technology is validated in an industrially relevant environment. We focus on the recycling of the most common WEEE polymers, bromine flame retardants, and antimony trioxide. ICM: What are the main results of PLAST2bCLEANED so far? PLAST2bCLEANED: We realized a TRL5 recycling pilot plant based on dissolution under superheated conditions. Global e-scrap scene reunites in Salzburg
The electronics recycling community, which was unable to meet last year, returned to its traditional venue in Salzburg on 18-21 January for its annual congress. The busy exhibition hall hosted some 40 recycling solutions providers and the level of interest and activity in all areas of the congress, showed that this industry needed to meet again. ‘It is crucial to meet face to face in this industry, we are so happy to be back in Salzburg,’ one delegate said. The International Congress for Battery Recycling ICBR 2021, gathered in Geneva, has recognized the lifetime contribution to battery collection and recycling of Mr Jacques David. The ICBR Honorary award is granted to a person for remarkable commitment to, and outstanding achievements in, the battery recycling industry and its related fields: development of new battery recycling technologies and chemistries, environmental protection, the circular economy and sustainable development. In 1977 Jacques David began his career in the battery recycling business and quickly became a pioneer in recovering nickel, cobalt and cadmium from Ni-Cd batteries in order to reintroduce them into their metallurgical cycle.
