Mit dem in Kraft treten der Medical Device Regulation (MDR) am 27.05.2021, verändern sich die Anforderungen an Hersteller, die Medizinprodukte in der EU in Verkehr bringen. Die neue Richtlinie verfolgt das Ziel, die Qualität und Rückverfolgbarkeit von Medizinprodukten zu erhöhen. Damit nimmt sie Einfluss auf die Prozesse in der Fertigung der Produkte und bringt zusätzlichen Prüf- und Dokumentationsaufwand mit sich. Das Ziel, einwandfreie Medizinprodukte um die Patienten- und Anwendersicherheit zu erhöhen, verpflichtet die Hersteller von Medizinprodukten, alle relevanten regulatorischen Anforderungen zu erfüllen, bevor sie ihr Produkt auf den Markt bringen können.
