Rheinmetall hat den Zuschlag in einem weiteren wichtigen Großvorhaben der Bundeswehr im Bereich der Digitalisierung erhalten. Als Generalunternehmer wird die Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH für den Aufbau eines durchgängigen Kommunikationsverbunds verantwortlich sein, für das sogenannte „Tactical Wide Area Network for Land Based Operations“ (TaWAN LBO). Das Volumen des nun erteilten Rahmenvertrags für ein verlegefähiges, plattformbasiertes Kommunikations- und Richtfunkmanagementsystem umfasst mehrere Milliarden EUR. Gesellschaftervertrag der MGCS Project Company GmbH unterzeichnet
KNDS Deutschland, KNDS France, Rheinmetall Landsysteme und Thales haben am Donnerstag den 23. Januar 2025 in Paris im Beisein des französischen Verteidigungsministers Sébastien Lecornu und des deutschen Verteidigungsministers Boris Pistorius den Gesellschaftervertrag für die „MGCS Project Company GmbH“, Köln, unterzeichnet. MGCS (Main Ground Combat System) ist ein deutsch-französisches Rüstungsprogramm, das darauf abzielt, bis 2040 die Kampfpanzer Leopard 2 und Leclerc durch ein plattformübergreifendes Bodenkampfsystem ersetzen zu können.
