Goldabbau damals und heute
Heute setzen Goldminengesellschaften auf ökologische, soziale und Governance-Aspekte. Früher war dies anders. Gerade erst wurden 2.200 Jahre alte Fußfesseln in einer altägyptischen Goldmine, in der Ghozza-Mine entdeckt. Die Ghozza-Mine war vor etwa 250 bis 200 vor Christus in Betrieb. Es gab dort auch ein Dorf mit Straßen und Wohngebieten. Bewachte Schlafsäle wurden dort nicht gefunden, jedoch in anderen altägyptischen Minen. Ebenso fand man ähnliche Fesseln bereits öfters im Mittelmeerraum. Die Arbeiter in den Minen waren einst bezahlte Arbeiter, aber eben auch oft Sklaven. Der Goldabbau forderte also erhebliche menschliche Kosten, gewöhnliche Kriminelle sowie Kriegsgefangene schufteten in den Minen. Mit dem Gold wurden dann oft Feldzüge finanziert. Today, gold mining companies focus on environmental, social and governance aspects. This used to be different. Foot shackles dating back 2,200 years have just been discovered in an ancient Egyptian gold mine, the Ghozza mine. The Ghozza mine was in operation around 250 to 200 BC. There was also a village there with streets and residential areas. Guarded dormitories were not found there, but they were found in other ancient Egyptian mines.
