Taiwan relies on gold reserves
According to the World Gold Council, Taiwan ranked 12th in terms of global gold reserves in the first quarter of 2024. The country owns around 422 tons of gold. The stated reason is to support the national currency, according to a Taiwanese central bank official. In addition, gold has always played an important role in the international monetary system.
