HPS-Crowdfunding: Early investors rejoice over successful investment

  • Crowdfunding, with 7% interest, repaid as planned
  • Over 1.25 million euros raised through the GLS platform in 2019
  • Funds utilized for sales expansion, end-customer marketing, manufacturing capacity growth, and quality control measures

HPS Home Power Solutions AG, the world’s leading provider of year-round energy storage systems based on green hydrogen for buildings, has fully and successfully repaid the crowdfunding financing it secured in 2019. Through the GLS Crowd platform, HPS received a total of 1.25 million euros, which were subject to an annual interest rate of 7%. Especially in times of low interest rates, the investment in and trust placed in HPS has paid off for the investors.

"Four years ago, we launched our first crowdfunding campaign, which was a crucial element for our growth financing. The funds entrusted to us were used to establish sales channels, conduct end-customer marketing, expand manufacturing capacities, and set up quality control test benches, all of which contributed to supporting the company’s growth. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who placed their trust in us and joined us in making a contribution to the energy transition," said Jewgeni Elster, Chief Financial Officer of HPS.

Since the launch of the crowdfunding campaign in 2019, HPS has continued to evolve. Their successful and diversified financing strategy included another crowdfunding campaign with GLS Bank in 2020, as well as attracting equity investors and securing additional debt capital in subsequent years. By now, over 500 picea systems have been sold, and the distribution partner network has been continuously expanded.

Über die HPS Home Power Solutions AG

HPS is a global leader in the development and production of integrated energy storage systems based on green hydrogen for buildings. With the innovative year-round energy storage system called picea, HPS addresses key areas of the energy transition. Surpluses generated by a photovoltaic system on sunny days are stored as green hydrogen and made available again in the dark seasons in the form of electricity and heat. This enables buildings to be supplied with solar energy from their own roofs throughout the year. The Berlin-based company was founded in 2014 by Zeyad Abul-Ella and Dr. Henrik Colell. HPS has won several prestigious awards for picea, including the Handelsblatt Energy Award, the Innovationspreis Berlin-Brandenburg, and the Sustainability Challenge of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
