Highly efficient and with extra space – all those looking for particularly spacious and locally emissions-free vehicles not only on the ‘International Day of Families’, which is celebrated annually on May 15, need to look no further than the extensive range of Opel’s battery-electric models. This year’s motto ‘Time for us: Living Family Life’ fits perfectly. The range of family-friendly models with the Blitz emblem spans from the new top-of-the-line SUV Opel Grandland Electric to the particularly affordable new Opel Frontera Electric and all-rounders for up to seven or even eight people such as the Opel Zafira Electric and Opel Combo Electric to the sporty, elegant compact class bestseller Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric. Something that all models with the characteristic Blitz have in common is that they come with numerous practical solutions and clever technologies. In addition, they make battery-electric everyday mobility easier with their competitive ranges and charging times. And with ’Electric All In’1, Opel is now making the switch to electric mobility even easier and more attractive.
Newcomer with top technologies and top range: The Opel Grandland Electric
The Opel Grandland Electric is an exciting SUV ‘made in Germany’. Designed and developed at Opel’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim and built in Eisenach, it offers innovative technologies from the award-winning glare-free Intelli-Lux HD light with more than 50,000 elements to the practical Pixel Box in the interior. Furthermore, the standard Intelli-Seats with ergonomic feature offer outstanding comfort.
The Grandland Electric offers space for either five people or up to 1,645 litres of luggage and is the first model from the German manufacturer to be based on the state-of-the-art STLA Medium platform, which is optimised for electric vehicles. Thanks to the new architecture, a particularly flat battery packaging with a battery capacity of up to 97 kWh, a new-generation electric motor and other energy-saving equipment, the Grandland Electric can already be ordered with a range of up to 582 kilometres according to WLTP3 and will soon be able to cover up to around 700 kilometres (provisional value, vehicle not yet available) locally emissions-free. Like any other Opel electric car, the Grandland Electric can be recharged quickly: With up to 160 kW of fast charging power, only a short break is necessary. And thanks to the 157 kW (213 hp) electric motor and 345 Nm of direct torque, it continues just as quickly.
All-electric, flexible and extra-affordable: The new Opel Frontera Electric
With outstanding packaging and an exemplary price-performance ratio, the new Opel Frontera Electric, which celebrated its dealer premiere in Germany a few days ago, is already attracting a lot of interest. Its robust interpretation of Opel’s design philosophy makes it stand out from the crowd and it is ready for daily adventures. The 4.38-metre-long electric car offers plenty of space for up to five people. At the front, the driver and front passenger can enjoy the optional patented Intelli-Seats with a central recess that decreases pressure on the tailbone. The rear can accommodate 460 litres of luggage; with the seats folded down, even up to 1,600 litres. With the 44 kWh battery, up to 305 kilometres (WLTP3) are currently possible between charging stops. This will be extended to around 400 kilometres (WLTP3, provisional value, vehicle not yet available) with the arrival of the ‘Long Range’ version in the coming months.
All-rounders for large families: Opel Combo Electric and Opel Zafira Electric
The Opel all-rounders for large families impress with additional flexibility: With the Opel Combo Electric, customers can choose from two vehicle lengths: The 4.41-metre-long version offers space for up to 5 people, while the 4.76-metre-long version (Combo XL) optionally accommodates up to 7 occupants in three rows. If desired, the Combo Electric can be ordered with three individual seats in the second row. Depending on the seat configuration, the Combo XL has up to 4,000 litres of cargo volume (up to the roof). Particularly practical are the access to the cargo area via the window in the tailgate and the horizontally foldable passenger seat backrest. The family van can cover up to 345 kilometres (WLTP3) between charging stops.
The largest passenger van in Opel’s portfolio, the Zafira Electric, comes with a choice of 49 kWh or 75 kWh battery. With the larger battery on board, a range of up to 347 kilometres (WLTP3) is possible. The MPV is available in two lengths (4.98 metres and 5.33 metres) and can accommodate up to 8 people. It is even more relaxing in the rear with four independent, opposite-facing vis-à-vis seats, which make the Zafira Electric particularly comfortable for longer holiday trips. Entry and exit to rows two and three is facilitated by sensor-controlled, electric sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle offers a load volume of up to 4,900 litres (in the XL version). Furthermore, the Zafira Electric is only around 1.90 meters in height and is therefore suitable for underground parking.
Electric pioneer and compact class bestseller: Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric
As one of the first all-electric estates ever launched, the Astra Sports Tourer Electric is a real electric pioneer. With its compact packaging, it is also a lightweight in its segment. This also helps it cover up to 411 kilometres (WLTP3) between charges. In addition, it offers outstanding comfort thanks to the optional AGR-certified ergonomic active sports seats. The compact-class electric car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds and has a top speed of 170 km/h.
The Astra Sports Tourer Electric also shows that it is a real all-rounder that combines sporty styling with locally emissions-free driving with its load volume: Even with the rear seats up, the luggage compartment of the compact class estate offers 516 litres of cargo volume – with the seats folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,553 litres. Not only numerous suitcases and work utensils, but also more voluminous items such as transport boxes can be comfortably accommodated, pleasantly easy to load via the 60-centimetre-low loading sill.
Electric All In1: E-services included for affordable electromobility
And to give electric mobility a further boost, Opel is making it even easier and more affordable for customers – starting with the purchase of a vehicle. After all, anyone who buys a battery-electric car model now will receive numerous services at the same time with ’Electric All In’1. For example, services such as an eProWallbox Move for fast charging at home, e-routes functions and eight years of mobile charging and breakdown assistance4 as well as a battery warranty are already included.
