‘Feel the made in Germany’: This is what the latest Opel Astra has demonstrated since its market launch this spring. With its combination of emotional design, highest precision and uncompromising quality, it embodies the essence of modern German engineering. To mark the start of the new model year, Opel is stepping it up a notch: The German manufacturer is expanding the range of trim levels available for the Astra. The compact-class bestseller from Rüsselsheim, which is currently also on display at the Paris Motor Show, is now also available as the Opel Astra Start. The new entry-level variant is perfectly tailored to customers who appreciate exceptional value for money. From as little as €31,890 (all prices RRP including VAT in Germany), customers will soon be able to drive their own five-door Astra, and from €33,390 the Astra Sports Tourer – each €1,500 less than before. For the Astra Electric, the entry-level price has even fallen by €1,900 to €36,490.
“With the launch of the new Start trim, we are now offering Opel Astra customers an even more attractive deal. Depending on the powertrain variant, they can save up to €1,900 while owning a car ‘made in Germany’ that is already extensively equipped. In this way, we are making individual mobility even more accessible to everyone, regardless of their preferred powertrain – and at the same time significantly more affordable than many of our competitors do,” said Patrick Dinger, Head of Opel Germany.
New Opel Astra Start: Attractive entry-level trim with new Denim Blue paint finish
With the introduction of the new Start trim, a new metallic paint finish is also making its debut on the Opel Astra. Astra customers will be driving in a subtle Denim Blue as standard – a shade that combines elegance with understatement. Furthermore, the Astra Start already boasts a host of practical and comfortable features. The driver and front passenger can enjoy six-way adjustable Intelli-Seats, which support a relaxed journey with their central recess. The automatic climate control, which is also fitted as standard, ensures a comfortable interior temperature at all times. Safety and visibility are enhanced not only by the mandatory driver assistance systems but also by the front and rear parking sensors; various vehicle information can be viewed on the customisable 10-inch driver information display and on the multimedia infotainment system’s colour touchscreen of the same size. And setting off is as simple as using the ‘Keyless Start’ system.
At the particularly attractive entry-level price of €31,890, customers can get behind the wheel of the equally efficient and powerful Astra Hybrid, with a system output of 107 kW (145 hp) and 230 Newton metres of torque. Here, the Astra transmits its power via a six-speed electrified dual-clutch gearbox. Alternatively, the Astra Start is also available with a 96 kW (130 hp) diesel engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox. And for those looking for a battery electric and thus locally emissions-free option can choose the Astra Electric Start, offering 115 kW (156 hp), 270 Newton metres of instant torque and practical V2L vehicle-to-load technology2.
In addition, the Astra Start can be fitted with further features such as the optional Start Comfort Pack. This includes, amongst other things, Solar Protect heat-shielding glazing, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a centre armrest and roof rails on the Sports Tourer.
Following the Opel Frontera and Opel Combo, the Rüsselsheim-based manufacturer is gradually introducing the new Start trim across its model line-up, offering attractive entry-level versions with a particularly good value for money. Meanwhile, the higher trim levels are being further enhanced with specific features and are now even more clearly distinguished from one another, perfectly tailored to the respective needs of customers.
