As part of construction of the fourth generation of the “Covestro Adelie” solar race car, the Exolon Group has provided 10-millimetre-thick Exolon polycarbonate sheets used in the production of the battery cell holder. To safely accommodate the largest and most powerful battery in the smallest possible space, Team Sonnenwagen needed a lightweight material that was easy to process, could be electrically insulated and was flame-retardant. A sailboat powered solely by the wind that glides across the water at a speed of 80 knots: this is what the designers of the SP80 speedboat promise. The vessel will have its first test "drive" along the French Mediterranean coast this summer. The goal: to set a new world speed record for sailboats. Exolon® multi UV Hybrid-X (HX) is now also available in a sheet thickness of 50 mm and completes the HX multiwall sheet family, which is already successfully represented on the market with 25, 32 and 40 mm thicknesses. The unique HX structure enables maximum insulation whilst reducing energy consumption.
