The Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall and Destinus, a Netherlands-based European defence technology company focused on scalable strike and interception systems, have agreed to establish a joint venture. The aim of the two partners is to set up the joint venture, to be named Rheinmetall Destinus Strike Systems, during the second half of 2026. It will manufacture, market, and deliver advanced missile systems. These will include cruise missiles and ballistic rocket artillery. Rheinmetall and Boeing Australia have entered into a strategic partnership to offer the MQ-28 Ghost Bat as a mature solution for the Bundeswehr’s procurement of collaborative combat aircraft (CCA) into Germany by 2029. Boeing’s MQ-28 Ghost Bat has completed more than 150 flights and has been designed, developed and manufactured in Australia for the Royal Australian Air Force and other allied nations. Die Düsseldorfer Rheinmetall AG und das spanische Technologieunternehmen Indra haben eine Vereinbarung (Memorandum of Understanding) zur weiteren Vertiefung ihrer strategischen Zusammenarbeit vor allem in der Fertigung von militärischen Fahrzeugsystemen für die europäischen und lateinamerikanischen Streitkräfte unterzeichnet. Anlässlich der Fachmesse XPONENTIAL Europe geben Rheinmetall, die MIRA GmbH und die Rheinbahn AG den Start eines gemeinsamen Pilotbetriebs für ein teleoperiertes Shuttle am Flughafen Düsseldorf bekannt. Der Testbetrieb beginnt im Mai 2026. Die Shuttle-Strecke führt vom Flughafen-Bahnhof und EUREF-Campus zum Flughafen-Terminal und zurück – und verläuft vollständig im öffentlichen Straßenverkehr. Rheinmetall AG, MIRA GmbH and Rheinbahn AG announced during the XPONENTIAL Europe trade fair the launch of a joint pilot operation for remotely operated on-demand shuttles at Düsseldorf Airport. Operations are set to begin in May 2026. The shuttle route will connect the airport railway station and the EUREF Campus with the airport terminal– entirely on public roads.
