Rheinmetall and SATIM sign technology supply agreement: Support for German Bundeswehr in SAR programme
The technology group Rheinmetall, based in Düsseldorf, and SATIM Monitoring Satelitarny, a Polish deep-tech company specialising in the AI-supported analysis of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, have signed a technology supply contract. The content is the support of the German customer’s satellite-based reconnaissance program. The agreement formalises SATIM’s role as a technology supplier to Rheinmetall for the delivery of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for the Bundeswehr. Under the contract, SATIM will supply AI-based capabilities that transform large volumes of complex radar imagery into actionable information. Die Bundeswehr hat Rheinmetall mit der Lieferung von Laser-Licht-Modulen für die deutschen Streitkräfte beauftragt. Nachdem der Haushaltsausschuss des Deutschen Bundestages am 3. Dezember 2025 die Haushaltsmittel freigegeben hat, wurde nun der erste Festabruf aus dem im Juni 2021 geschlossenen Rahmenvertrag getätigt. Somit sollen in den nächsten sieben Jahren Laser-Licht-Module "LLM-VarioRay" geliefert werden. Darüber hinaus besteht die Möglichkeit des Abrufs von weiteren LLM VR. The Bundeswehr has commissioned Rheinmetall to supply Laser-Light-Modules for the German Armed Forces. Following the budget approval by the German Bundestag’s Budget Committee on 3 December 2025, the first definitive call-off has now been made under the framework agreement concluded in June 2021. This agreement entails the delivery of ‘LLM-VarioRay’ Laser-Light-Modules, scheduled for delivery over the next seven years. In addition, there is the option to procure further LLM-VR modules. The German Armed Forces has placed a major order with Artec GmbH, a joint venture between KNDS Germany and Rheinmetall. The RCH155 (Remote Controlled Howitzer 155 mm) wheeled howitzer is to be introduced into service. On 19 December 2025, ARTEC GmbH received an order for the first 84 RCH155 wheeled howitzers. Rheinmetall has opened a new plant in Szeged, Hungary, thereby expanding its presence in this EU and NATO partner country. The opening ceremony took place on 12 December 2025, attended by several prominent figures: Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó; Mayor of Szeged, László Botka; Member of Parliament, Béla Mihálffy; and numerous other high-ranking representatives from politics, government, and industry. Die Bundeswehr verstärkt ihre Puma-Flotte. So hat sie die Projekt System & Management GmbH (PSM), ein Joint Venture von Rheinmetall und KNDS Deutschland (KNDS), mit der Lieferung von 200 Schützenpanzern Puma beauftragt. Ein entsprechender Änderungsvertrag des bestehenden Rahmenvertrags im Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) wurde heute in Koblenz unterzeichnet. Der Vertrag ist zum Januar 2026 rechtswirksam. Die Beschaffung hat ein Gesamtvolumen von 4,2 MrdEUR brutto. The German Bundeswehr is significantly expanding their Puma fleet. It has commissioned Projekt System & Management GmbH (PSM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland (KNDS), to supply 200 Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). The corresponding amendment to the existing framework contract has now been signed at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) in Koblenz.
