Bundeswehr has ordered 568 logistics vehicles from Rheinmetall
The Bundeswehr has commissioned Rheinmetall to supply 568 logistics vehicles. These will include 349 UTF-trucks (unprotected transport vehicle) in 5t and 15t models, as well as 219 trucks with a swap-body system, 121 of which will have a protected driver’s cab. The total value of both projects amounts to over €330m gross. The UTF-trucks are to be delivered in 2026, the swap-body trucks by November 2025. The budget committee of the German Parliament, the Bundestag, approved the funds on 18 December 2024. Thus Rheinmetall booked the orders in the fourth quarter of 2024. Breakthrough in air defence: Rheinmetall successful with Skynex in Italy
The Italian Army has decided to introduce Skynex air defence systems from Rheinmetall. The order to supply a first system worth a total of €73m has now been placed at Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A., Rome. The contract includes an option to supply three additional systems worth €204m. A Skynex system consists of a sensor and tracking unit for air surveillance, a control station as a command-and-control centre and four 35mm firing units. Rheinmetall supplies artillery ammunition worth €21 million to international customer
An international customer has contracted with Rheinmetall to supply five-digit quantities of 155mm M107 artillery ammunition. Worth €21 million, the order is to be delivered in the first half of 2025. The order was booked in December 2024. The ammunition will be manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain. In service with several NATO nations for decades, the M107 is still among the world’s most widely used artillery projectiles. It can be fired from a large number of 155mm weapon systems. Die Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH mit Sitz in Bremen hat mittels eines Geschäftsanteilskaufvertrages weitere 11% der Anteile an dem bayerischen Software-Entwickler blackned GmbH erworben und beabsichtigt mit diesem Erwerb, 51% und damit die Mehrheit an der blackned zu kontrollieren. Die Bremer Rheinmetall-Tochter hat bislang einen 40%-Anteil an blackned gehalten. Die Transaktion steht noch unter diversen aufschiebenden Bedingungen und bedarf u.a. auch einer Freigabe durch das Bundeskartellamt. Digitalisation: Rheinmetall acquires majority share in blackned GmbH
Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH, based in Bremen, has acquired another 11% of the shares in the Bavarian software developer blackned GmbH by means of a share purchase agreement. With this acquisition, Rheinmetall intends to control 51% and thus the majority of blackned. The Bremen-based Rheinmetall subsidiary has so far held a 40% stake in blackned. The transaction is still subject to various conditions precedent and also requires approval by the German Federal Cartel Office. Founded in 2009 and based in Heimertingen in Bavaria, blackned specialises in software for the digitalisation of armed forces. The company currently has around 200 employees and is growing rapidly. Das Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) hat Rheinmetall damit beauftragt, bis zu 120 Rettungsstationen an die Bundeswehr zu liefern. Der Auftrag wird im Januar 2025 verbucht, sein Wert liegt im höheren zweistelligen MioEUR-Bereich. The Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has commissioned Rheinmetall to deliver up to 120 rescue stations to the Bundeswehr. The order will be booked in January 2025 and values in a high double-digit million euro range. Delivery of the initial ten ballistic protected and six unprotected systems is scheduled between 2025 and 2027. The contract also includes an option for a further 104 armoured and unarmoured systems, as well as corresponding training for the appropriate personnel.
