Rheinmetall investigates B-17 aircraft wreckage in the North Sea on behalf of transmission system operator Amprion
Over a period of several weeks, Rheinmetall examined the wreckage of a US B-17 bomber from the Second World War in the German North Sea. Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of the Düsseldorf-based technology group, was commissioned by Amprion Offshore GmbH. The contract value is in the single-digit million euro range. The wreckage was discovered in the summer of 2025 near the DolWin4 offshore grid connection system – an important energy transition project in Germany. Der Düsseldorfer Technologiekonzern Rheinmetall hat die Übernahme von NVL, dem militärischen Bereich der Unternehmensgruppe Lürssen, abgeschlossen. Nach der Ankündigung im September 2025 und der Unterzeichnung des Kaufvertrags im Oktober 2025 hat der Konzern nun alle kartellrechtlichen Freigaben zum Erwerb der Naval Vessels Lürssen (NVL B.V. & Co. KG, Bremen-Vegesack) und all ihrer Töchter erhalten. Der Übergang erfolgte zum 1. März 2026. Zur Höhe des Kaufpreises hatten beide Parteien Stillschweigen vereinbart. German Navy system house to be established: Rheinmetall takes over NVL
Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall has completed the company take-over of NVL, the military part of the Lürssen Group. Following the announcement in September 2025 and the signing of the purchase contract in October 2025, Rheinmetall has now been given all antitrust approvals for the acquisition of Naval Vessels Lürssen (NVL B.V. & Co. KG, Bremen-Vegesack), including all its subsidiaries. The transition was concluded on 1 March 2026. Both parties have agreed on keeping the purchasing price concealed. With this significant strategic acquisition, Rheinmetall will be creating a German systems house for the development and manufacture of state-of-the-art navy and coastguard vessels, as well as maritime autonomous surface systems. Die Rheinmetall-Tochter Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH hat Ende 2025 einen Vertrag über fünf sogenannte Role 2 Feldhospitäler mit der dänischen Beschaffungsbehörde geschlossen. Der Auftragswert liegt im mittleren zweistelligen MioEUR-Bereich, er wurde im vierten Quartal 2025 verbucht. Die Auslieferung aller Systeme soll innerhalb von zwei Jahren erfolgen. Der Auftrag umfasst drei Hospitäler des Typs Role 2B (Basic) und zwei Hospitäler der Kategorie Role 2E (Enhanced). Rheinmetall Receives Order for Field Hospitals from Danish Ministry of Defence
At the end of 2025, Rheinmetall subsidiary Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH signed a contract with the Danish procurement authority for five Role 2 field hospitals. The contract value is in the mid double-digit million euro range and was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025. Delivery of all systems is scheduled to take place within two years. The field hospitals are divided into three Role 2B (Basic) hospitals and two Role 2E (Enhanced) hospitals. The Role 2B is fully containerized and operates as a mobile unit mounted on trucks. Februar 2026 am Nationalen Erprobungszentrum für unbemannte Luftfahrtsysteme des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Cochstedt, Sachsen-Anhalt. Im Rahmen der Vorführung simulierte das Loitering Munition System FV-014 verschiedene Einsatzszenarien und Angriffsflüge. Rheinmetall has successfully demonstrated its new FV-014 loitering munition system to a potential NATO customer. The demonstration took place on 18 February 2026 at the National Test Centre for Unmanned Aerial Systems of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Cochstedt, Saxony-Anhalt. During the demonstration, the FV-014 loitering munition system (LMS) simulated various mission scenarios and attack flights. For Rheinmetall, the successful test marks another milestone in its loitering munition activities. Rheinmetall’s state-of-the-art LMS FV-014 is designed for dynamic combat deployment at ranges of up to 100 kilometres.
